Current NewsNew site in the works. I've been working over the past few weeks on a new site design. As many have noticed, this site has become the target of spam bots. I've run into some road blocks. Spam bots are immensely hard to keep up with. I can manually delete each post they make. But they can post up to 200 advertisements within a few minutes. The problem really came to light after I had installed new forum software. The forum hadn't even been linked yet, or made public, and I had 5 bogus sign ups within 2 hours. The target of these bots improve search ranking of web sites, and to harvest email addresses. As a result I've taken down the index. I don't want anymore alumni getting spam emails because of this site. Currently the only links working are the pictures index & a link to the new forums. (which are currently closed). I may have a new guestbook up a running soon. I know how unhappy people have been with this site, and for that I apologize. Please realize this web space is not free, I pay for it out of my own pocket every year. The site was hand coded by myself. In the new day and age of the internet, hand coding is just not enough. I'm looking for a solution. Thanks, Angela
About the Westend/Gutenberg Alumni SiteHi! My name is Angela Wiwczor and I was stationed in Lahr, Germany from 1982 - 1986. During that time I attended Westend Junior School from grades 2 through 5. The reason this site exists is to help reunite ANYONE who attended Westend or Gutenberg school.(This includes teachers, secretaries, principals, etc!) Because we were younger in our days there...most of us didn't realize we'd never be seeing each other again. I never got the addresses of my close friends...because it never dawned on me it'd all be coming to an end. It's been years! Come and find old friends, and relive those fond memories. |
